Dermamelan Procedure

The Dermamelan procedure consists of two facial masks applied to the skin at appointments 3-4 weeks apart. Your first treatment will begin with a mild chemical peel to reduce the excess dead skin debris on the surface of the skin. Next your technician will apply a thick layer of the Dermamelan mask to the skin. The mask will stay on the skin for most of the day before you wash it off with gentle cleanser at home. For light skin types the mask will remain on for 8 hours. For medium skin types the mask will remain on for 10 hours. For darker skin types the mask will remain on for 12 hours. After cleansing off the mask, you will immediately start to see the progress of the lightening effect taking place. Starting day 2 you will apply the Dermamelan treatment cream at home. At your second appointment, when the mask is applied, the technician will advise you on the time length to keep it on according to the type of results you are trying to achieve. Your skin will appear pink for 2-5 days after the treatment and may have some minor irritation and peeling for 10-14 days after each of the mask applications.

Home Treatment

The second most important component to the Dermamelan is the home maintenance cream. This cream should be applied using the 3-2-1 Rule.
” 3 times per day during the first month
” 2 times a day for 2 months
” 1 times a day for a period determined by your skin care professional (maximum 12 months)
Other at home skin care products must be discussed with your skin care professional in order to ensure the procedure is effective and safe for the skin. Be sure you are applying an SPF 30-45 daily and using skin care products that help to hydrate the skin.
